Did oil change tonite and while checking undercarriage over noticed my spare was "jammed" against the new cover I put in Monday. When I gots the cover we talked about the sway bar rubbing but not the spare. I guess on the y2k's SWB there isn't enuff room for both with the 16" that come with the SLT package. Will either have to get the spare replaced with a "donut" or not carry it if after pulling it to the back and retightening the crank, it wont stay in place. Have about 1" of clearance now but... ..... not too happy about this development. Any ideas?????

Also installed the Sunshade on the rear window, now the glass should stay clean (hated those streaks from the roof moisture).

I have a LWB Ram but with the 255-85 tire, I have the same clearance problem. I made a steel plate with two studs to go between two bolt holes of the spare wheel and this moves the factory retainer plate to the edge of the center hole. That is, the factory retainer on the bottom of the cable does not center itself in the center hole of the wheel, but rather it fits between the steel plate and the edge of the center hole. That makes the spare want to be a couple inches farther back, and gives enough clearance.

Thanks Joe, read it 3 x's before I visualized it but that shud do it for me also. I'll do it this weekend when I get home and go to my friend's Trailer business.
(U) Probably used 3/4" strap and 1/2" rod to build it. (?)

Just like these MEMBERS we have here, cant wait to help out. Check out our posting times. Dont wait long before we get each others assistance. THANKS again Joe!!!!

12-10 Didn't want to add another post soo adding to this one.
MAG-HYTEC called this morn and we discussed (cussed) the problem. They are looking at a redesign of the cover so the spacer is not needed and may (key word - may) taper the upper and lower ends to prevent hitting/rubbing. Anyhows. . another good mfgr who cares about us customers and has service after the sale.
I decided to make a "T" plate with 3 posts to go into the stud holes and that will go across the center of the wheel and into the rearmost hole. Then drop the cable thru the front opening which should give enuff clearance for the spare and cover. The wheel center opening will be divided into 3 openings with the plate, the one to the front being the largest. Hope this helps describe a solution for those that need it.

12-11 Well I made it and c that it could be betta. It put the spare against the front of the receiver hitch and I have to grind the points off the lisc plate screws for safety, but I gots plenty of clearance on the cover now.
