Issue 36 page 138 addresses transmission temperatures.
I installed a Mag-Hytec Double Deep pan on my new transmission this last summer - sensor mounted at the rear of the pan. After close to 6,000 miles, I've only gone over 175 degrees once - hauling a 10k load over south pass in Wyoming (Auto Meter Ultra-lite guage read just under 195 degrees).
Other than that, I've been running in the 125 to 150 degree range almost constantly.
If high transmission temperatures are a concern for you... consider installing a Double Deep pan. I've been VERY satisfied with mine.
