Several years ago, in one of the TDR issues, a guy wrote an article with an excellent comparison of transmission temperatures using an OEM, an M-H deep, and a M-H double deep pan. He was pulling a trailer and gave detailed data.

If anyone remembers what issue that was in I would sure appreciate your letting me know.

Also, if you are towing and have any similar experience in dropping transmission temps by installing one of these pans I'd like to hear about it.

Thanks

I can't comment on the directly on the oil pan for your 2005 truck but I have been using a Mag-Hytec 68RFE oil pan on my truck since Mar of 2009.

This pan does adds about 3 quarts of additional oil to the transmission, which is similar to the double deep pan for the older trucks. When towing my RV I normally see between 180 and 195F oil temps on my gage. In my humble opinion they are will worth the money in helping to keep the transmission oil cooler plus giving the transmission more fluid when towing a load.
