I spoke with Woodlawn RV http://www.woodlawnrv.com/ today and found out they are running a special on Mag-Hytec transmission pans. The New Double-deep pan is $225 and the regular Deep pan is $169... . Both are in stock. This is the best price I have seen so far on these products, plus they are very good to work with.

I have ordered from them. I ordered a Banks High Ram intake, I liked the way it looked. No power improvement. They were the best price around. I support my local business as I can. They have great servive #ad
and she told me it would take a little longer than normal as Banks does not ship dirrectly to the customer. They had to wait for it then send it out to me, no problem. I will order a Mag for my Dana 80 from them.

<font color=blue>How many quarts does this new "Double deep pan" hold? And how low does it hang? Getting ready to do my transmission so might as well do that at the same time.....

Just dunno which one to order... ... .

I dont know how many more quarts it holds, but i saw a truck with one. The double deep is about an inch higher then the trans skidplate so you will not lose any ground clearance.

KAT,
The new DD pan holds four more quarts than stock. The original pan holds 1. 5 more than stock.

I ordered the original pan last week from Woodlawn RV. I got it in three days and they didn't rape me for shipping ($5 to Michigan).

I ordered the original depth pan because I rarely tow a load over 6000lbs, and I always keep on top of transmission maintence (fluid changes). In my persoanl situation I don't think the extra $55 would have benefited me to a great extent.

Here is a quote from an email I received from Roy at Mag-Hytec regarding the two pans

"If you have a 4X4 truck and use it for HD 4 wheeling or pull lite loads I think you should buy the 727-D it holds 1. 5 qts. more oil. and cools up to 20 degs. But if you pull heavy trailers and use it hard that way you should by all means buy the 727-DD pan it holds 4 qts. more oil then stock
and cools up to 30 degs. This is your call. "

As always the choice is yours,
-Ryan

EMDDIESEL,
I thought the pan was a bit higher than the skid plate. I wonder why Roy suggest the smaller pan for 4-wheeling.

I must admit I was questioning my purchase of the original depth pan. If price isn't an issue, isn't more always better?

**** it! I had convinced myself that I really only needed the original pan (and I still think that is all I NEED), but now the DD pan is sounding more appealing, more is better.

Should I send back the D pan and get the DD?

I really like my new Mag-Hytec Double Deep trans. pan! #ad
This pan replaced my "old" Mag-Hytec (standard) Deep trans. pan I installed just after they were introduced. Having had both (and I don't tow anything worth mentioning. . weight wise), I like the fact that I have an extra 2. 5 quarts of Amsoil ATF protecting my DTT enhanced 47RE. BTW, the trans. temps. have been further reduced with the addition of the deeper pan (all other things being equal... ATF, ambient temp. etc. ).

Personally, I think it looks awesome hanging down... it can now be seen hanging down while looking at the truck from the side at a distance. As stated before, it is higher than the skid plate by approx. 3/4"-1". If you are an avid off-roader (with your auto. equipped Ram) I would suggest the standard Deep trans. pan.

Thanks Roy and Jerry for giving me first class customer service and honoring my special request. #ad

Anybody out there have a 2wd with the double deep pan? Just wondering if it would still be above the cross member?

Mag-Hytec Double deep pan arrived yesterday #ad
... Can't say enough good about Woodlawn RV. If you guys are looking for a good price on upgrades give then a call and let them compete for your business. Also, the customer service is as good as it gets. By the way the box was very heavy and shipping was still only $7. 99.

I also would like to know how it will look on my 99 2wd. Will it hang low enogh to hit when pulling the camper into uneven campsites?

Anyone

I measured the clearances I have around my stock pan. The deep one would be a close fit, especially around the exhaust. I don't know how the deep with 2wd CTD would clear.
I ordered the standard pan from Woodlawn. They are great people to work with.

Let us know what it looks like when you get it installed. I'll probably order one myself if all goes well for you.

Thanx
