I have a 98. 5 24v 4X4 Quad cab and will be pulling a heavy fifth wheel. The truck's 47re automatic trans has a single clutch heavy duty torgue converter and a BD pressure lock. I also have a trans temperature gauge.

Does anyone have any experience with the Mag Hytech double deep transmission pan. Will the extra gallon of fluid and the fins cool the fluid? How much? Does the pan "stiffen" the transmission

Any experience with the BD pan?

Would I be better off with a extra frame mounted trans cooler and fan? How does it cool.

Thanks for the help.

The pan cools between 20 and 40 degrees average. With the pan there is no risk of blowing an aftermarket hose set-up. The pan is strong enough to add stiffness to the case. If you push the truck hard enough you might want to use both.

BD transmission and Mag-Hytec

I have had a full BD transmission for about 3yrs. and 70k miles. Also put on the double deep Mag- Hytec at the same time. Temp dropped big time. Before,I would pull off the freeway on a long trip and engine would idle way high until it cooled down. Now it stays cool all the time. I pull a gooseneck about 12k to 16k lbs. Very happy with the setup.

95' 2500 ext. cab. Larry.
