Has anyone tried the front Mag-Hytek cover for a 3rd gen truck?

I ordered one up and and started putting it in today. Unfortunately it does not appear to fit. It makes contact with the track bar. Of course this was not discovered until after the oil was drained and the old cover was removed. Guess I have to put the old one back on now. Gotta get to work somehow!

Truck does not have a lift and the suspension components are in good condition. Guess it will be going back to Geno's garage. Darn.

Back one went on fine, although I welded an extension onto the alignment bracket for the spare so that it would sit about 3 inches farther to the rear. It looked like it could make contact with the cover in its old position.

I just installed both a front and rear maghytec cover this week. Neither looks like they contact anything although the front is close.

I have PMLs which are cheaper. The front gets a little close to the KORE steering stabilizer, but thats OK, it doesnt hit.

just my opinion

I recently installed the MagHytec front cover on on my truck. Fits just fine. No interference with the track bar. It was a little tight getting it in past the track bar, but once past it, plenty of room.

There was a problem with them, as identified a while back. I believe they made changes recently, that would make them fit. Maybe you got an early one?

I'll bet your right. I remember a bunch of threads here and on other forums about a year ago. The track bar would rub the cover on some and just plain not fit on others.

I spoke directly to MagHytec regarding their front cover, it's fit, and what might have been interfering prior to purchasing and installing mine. I was told that a few early covers DID have interference, those issues WERE resolved, and all the covers made now have NO interference problems.

It was actually NOT the track bar that interfered, it was the structure above the cover that was hitting the upper left corner (as you face the cover looking toward the rear of the truck). I noticed the corner of the cover has been designed for clearance in that area. I suppose if you were going over a tall speed bump at a fast rate of speed you might have more movement in that area, making the corner more vulnerable in that area.

Like I said earlier, I have plenty of clearance for the side-to-side movement of the track bar against the face of the cover.

When I put the cover on to check the fit, the vertical raised edge next to the cut out portion (9-12 oclock) on the upper left section (looking from the front of the truck towards the rear) makes contact with the track bar right near one of the formed bends in the track bar. The contact is not a lot, but it is clearly there. It makes contact without the gasket and it is worse with it. As the suspension works up and down I know the track bar would rub on the front of the cover right on the edge of that cutout.

I was wondering if maybe the Dually was slightly different, but I see at least one Dually (with snow plow to boot) that does not have an issue.

I will be checking with Mag-Hytec (SIC) and see what they have to say as to whether I have an older run cover.

Thanks for the inputs.

Put them on my 2006 Mega cab... Have a 4. 5 inch lift but seemed that everything fit. However, after further review i am getting contact at the exact position you are talking about. Seems when I hit a large bump it moves enough to contact. I have a nice little indent where they are hitting. Let me know what Mag hytec says about yours. Not crazy about the contact in that corner...

I called Mag Hytec on Friday and discussed the contact with Jerry (the owner). Seemed real customer oriented and wanted to please. I will be sending the cover back to him and he will take a look at it, and send one back to me. He said the newest ones have a 45 degree angle cut on the corner where I had contact. He also stated that there is enough metal there to grind the corner down to prevent contact.

More to follow.
