Transmissions from APS Precision Mfg

They probably make the premium pistons for large industrial engines. Typical German thoroughness in engineering and manufacturing.

MAHLE is generally considered to be the equal of any piston manufacturer: Ross, JE, TRW, CP, BME, etc... .

They make the pistons for the new Hemi...

I would NOT use Mahle pistons. I did in my engine and that is reason I am rebuilding it right now. Buy only cummins brand pistons! This is costing me over $4000. These pistons cannot handle the heat and practically all of my pistons had cracks in them.

Then again, you aren't known to be easy on things, are you CUMMINFAST????

Why NOT use the Cummins pistons? I would think that you want to replace the OEM ones with OEM if they have proven to be strong.

Mahle piston manufacturer is a premiere piston maker. They made pistons for exotic cars and for Harley-Davidson. They pioneered cutting pistons on three axises at one time. very high quality pistons..... Pete

I have worked for an industrial engine manufacturer for 30 years in various technical and management capacities. I've performed and overseen numerous field engineering and metallurgical laboratory failure analyses. In my experience, I'd say that probably 10% or less of the thermal failures that involved cracked or melted pistons were the fault of the piston - IOW, the piston is typically the victim, not the cause. Factors other than the piston design, material or manufacturing process were responsible for the other 90% of the failures.

JM2CW
