The maintaince on this truck was pretty stright forward. As you will see, this was really a problem free truck for what it did. For the first 100,000 miles or so the oil and filter was changed every 5000 miles and it was greased at the same time. The tires were rotated every 15 to 20,000 miles, usually got 60 to 70,000 miles out of a set. Front brake pads usually made 40 to 50,000 miles between changes. I never turned the rotors for the entire life of the truck. The transmission fluid and filter was changed every 30,000 miles. The air and fuel filters were changed as needed. Rear axle grease was changed every 50,000 miles. After the first 100,000 miles the maintance schedule changed somewhat. I switched over to Amsoil 15-40 motor oil and went on a 6000 mile, change the filter, 12,000 mile change the oil and filter and continued this for the life of the truck. The rear axle grease and power steering fluid was changed over to Amsoil shortly after that. I switched over to the Amsoil transmission as soon as it was approved for Dodge transmissions. This was the basic maintance scheduel for this truck. Problems and repairs that were done on the truck were as follows: transmission replaced 112,000 miles, headlight switch, 267,100 miles, throtle cable and TPS 308,100 miles, alined front end,330,000 miles, replaced front wheel bearings,344,000 miles, (were repacked every pad change) complete DTT transmission,347,000 miles, rear axle seals and rear pads (oil soaked) 354,500 miles, and again at 391,000 miles, water pump, 395,900 miles, overflow valve on the fuel injection pump, (after I cracked two and blew the gasket out the third fuel filter) 405,000 miles, and the last thing was the nut off the end of the axle that caused the axle to walk out on me. That could have really caused a bad wreck if it had happened with a loaded trailer. When I sold the truck, the vacume pump was going out, it needed front brake pads and six tires. The engine and transmission were still as strong as ever. It was the little things and the worry about getting stuck way off somewhere that caused me to get a new one. This might be to long, but several people had asked about a maintaince log on my truck. Just hope my new one will be as good. Will have had my new one three weeks this friday and as of tonight it has 7,654 miles on it.

Wows, thats impressive.

My '95 has a 174k miles on it but I've only managed to add 200 miles before I blew my transmission. I hope afterwards I get the same reliability you did.

hi miler

Congratulation's,sounds a lot like my 96 dually with auto that now has 514,000 miles on it, the big difference was that for the first 250,000 miles I changed the oil every 10,000 miles and used a fram filter and rotella oil, then I was told that this was not a good idea so I switched to delo 400 and fleetguard filter, I guess thats the reason it has lasted so long. I am still waiting for a miss to start so I can change the injectors. Stormy blue road
