My 2000 ctd just tripped 150,000 miles a couple of weeks ago. I've always used the factory maint. schedule as a guide for service; but it stops at 150,000. Stupid Question... Does anyone know of a guide past 150; or do you just start over?

Just keep on keepin' on. Perform your maintenance like you always have. Just add 150K to the numbers in the owner's manual.

So when is it a good idea to get the valves checked? I've heard 120,000, 125,000 and 150,000. I'm asking, because I've got 123,000 on mine.

By the way, JPulliam, you're right, a grape does ripen, when it sees another grape :D

Lonesome Dove was a great series... .

If you've never checked them I'd do it now. I've done mine a few times now (119K miles), and especially after the first two times there was a noticeable improvement.

I now have over 500,000 miles on mine, and have always followed maintenance guidelines of the factory. I did recently changed my differential fluid at 490,000 miles and sent it off to be analyzed. The analysis came back that the oil was still within tolerances of use. There was no major degredation of the fluid although it did have increased contaminats. I changed it and put in Royal Purple and now have leaks from seals. Oh well, I guess I can live with it for now. Most of what I do is oil changes at 7,000 miles and fuel filter changes at 6 mo intervals. I clean my K&N air filter once a year and adjust valves on an irregular basis. I still get 18 MPG (with a 4. 11 Rear end) and she still cranks when first turned over. I rebuilt my alternator at 350,000 miles as a preventative measure (parts including a new rotor cost 70 bucks) I have replaced one power steering pump 2 fan clutches (1 caused a radiator replacement) and 3 manual transmissions. All in all I have had very few problems and feel you are just getting your truck broken in good. These trucks are bullet proof for the most part with modest care. The only thing I really need to do now is to take care of the driver's seat as it has now molded itself into the impression of my buttocks! I need to take care of some front suspension stuff as she has started the wandering here recently. I don't drive it as much as I used to as I fly most places i go, but I can always depend on here to start and take me where i need to go safely.

just my 2cents for whatever it's worth.
