I have a 2005. Since I am retired, I do not drive much. I have received two notices from Power Dodge in Phoenix notifying me that my truck is 30 days past due for routine maintenance and it could effect my eligibility for warranty. I can not find anything in my manual that says maintenance requirements are driven by anything but mileage. I have emailed Power Dodge twice asking this question and I do not get a response from them. Am I missing something?

Whew! A little pressure there huh? I'd follow the mx booklet that came with the truck being that it is mileage driven and stick with that. BTW, I drive rarely too. My sits in a heated garage all nice and clean. I do my own mx and follow the severe schedule. Bewtween the sitting around and when it does come out it either hasa trailer behind it or it is driven in town, sooo.....

It is just an old school sales tactic. There is NO WAY your warranty will be affected by not servicing the truck by some mythical time schedule. Once a year it is probably a good idea to do an oil and filter change. Beyond that, I would get myself taken off of that list. ;)

I agree that going past 1 year between oil changes would not be a good idea. Condensation can build up when it's not driven. You need to get out more. When I retire, my truck will be busy.

Mine used to sit before my Jetta got totaled. I would change the oil once per year using Amsoil Diesel Marine. It has a high TBN to neutralize the acids and I had no fears letting it sit. Now that I am forced to drive it its due for another maintaince. This time its due for trans service, fuel, air, oil filters, and rear oil change. But my 06 will be here soon enough (I hope so, I ordered it 10/24)

Well mine is a daily driver to work and back mostly (20 mile round trip) and every so often on the weekends here lately. When diesel was a lot higher priced it set a whole lot more and we used the wife's gasser since it was cheaper in price. So looking back at my last oil change service here recently it was July 05. I still like about 300 miles until my 5k oil change interval. I was going to ask the same question as posted before I noticed this thread. How many go by mileage or time interval. :D

The oil capacity for the third generation continues... ... dodge says 12 quarts and the Cummins people say 10 plus 1 for the filter ... ... for a total of 11 quarts. Let's resolve this as a lot of trucks appear to be running around over filled even though they may be near the full mark??? comments???

Spowe,

I've always put 12 qts. in my '91 & '03, including filter. Always fills it to the line on the dipstick.
