Every 20 yrs or so, re-torque your transmission mount bolts.
I hooked to an 11,000 lb load Friday, and was enjoying the new power of my 366 spring, HE351 turbo, M2 pin, etc... that is until I started sensing something changed all of a sudden. I popped the hood, and revved the engine a few times... and it looked like the engine was doing the Bolivian hula boogie! The engine was oscillating around the engine bay like a wigglin nut on a wobblin shaft! Come to find out, the only thing holding the drivetrain to the truck were 2 worn out motor mounts. The bolts had completely come out of the transmission mounts, and the transmission had taken a journey of its own to the starboard side of the vessel.
That, along with 7 other issues this weekend, reminded me that it's good to have a weekly bonding session with your 1st Gen... not for any reason in particular, but just to lay underneath her, feel around, poke and prod, and peep under the hood. More often than not, she's got a surprise or two lurking, beckoning some tender love and care...
