Major Leak From Vacuum/powersteering Pump

Just washed off under the hood to get some of the buildup off. My powersteering pump and vacuum pump have been seeping where they join since I got the pickup 35000 miles ago. I blasted it clean like I have before and now we have a major oil (engine oil) leak. I've tried to find info at the dealer on there computer as to any seals that are there, but no luck.



I read once where someone had this trouble before and fixed it. I think it was an O-ring or something. Can't find this thread either. If all else fails maybe a little high temp silicone?



Any info on this leaky problem would be very helpful

Yep, you got it! Take it apart. You will see a seal and an o ring. Get the number off the seal and hit a bearing/seal supplier with the number. It will cost around 30 bucks due to it being a high heat seal. It will not show on a MOPAR/Dodge parts list so don't even call them(Unless you want the whole assy. at $400. 00) Its not hard to do, have fun!

There is a seal and a o-ring in the end of the vac. pump. They are both metric. The ones I have are made by " National-Federal Mogul" and are listed by their size. The seal is 28mm x 38mm x7mm and the o-ring is 55mm x 59mm x 2mm.



I had trouble finding the parts locally and had to order. Took a couple of days to get from Houston. Make sure you have them in hand.

Driving a Chevy gasser!!! You should have posted your problem in the "911" column Sounds like an emergency to me. I have the same problem, and it seems like we have to pull the seal on the vacuum pump side of the joint and match it up as Dodge does not service the seal separately, and a new vacuum pump is out rageous in price.
