Have been having the identical problem that "Bigstick" had posted in the Engine & drivetrain section under "major Problem - need help".
Basically, since the the truck was new (June 2000) it has always started within 1/2 - 1 revolution. Last week it started to take 2 - 3 to more revolutions to fire. Finally this weekend it will not fire off at all unless you bleed air @ the injector lines. When you get it running it runs fine, no stumbles no misses no problems. Even bled it and ran it 45 min. and 20 mile with no problems. Bring in the garage and shut it off 10 sec and try a re-start and it will just crank and not fire.
In "Bigsticks" thread he had mentioned talking to Cummins mechs. and they were leaning toward a VP44 seal gone bad??
I even thought I was sucking air an have replaced the fuel line with a seperate new one and checked for air in a clear hose - nothing.
Any input would be appreciated before the dreaded call to the Dealer. Truck still under warranty @ 39,000 miles.
