This afternoon I went to pick up a rear oil seal kit for my 97 CTD.

While chatting with the parts guy I asked what he did with the "old parts catalogs"

We raped for a few minets as they mostly do Highway rigs and school buses, not too many CTD Dodges, as Ma Chrysler is just down the road.

He hands me the bag with the oil seal kit and when I get to the truck, lo and behold gues what appeared in the bag!!!!!

A Cummins 1996 6BT5. 9 Parts Catalouge, Just the part numbers and graphics,

If any one needs a reference for the 1996-1997 12V Cummins part #'s I could help out here.

There are about 139 pages in this thing I might look at getting it scaned to PDF or TIF.

Then if the file is not to big it could be e-mailed.

PS I'm not availible this weekend, visiting 3 avaiation museums in 4 days up here in Canada.

Ain't it wounderfull when those papers just "fall" into your lap:-laf, I will keep that in mind the next time I need some parts. Thanks.

Great deal but a word of caution. Even tho it is ( I assume ) a 96 Dodge /Cumins parts book take it as a guide only as parts do change from one year to another. I have a 97 Cummins parts book and there are things in there that are different from my 97 when I look them up by serial number. Use the book for pictures and ideas but when ordering from Cummins always order by ESN. It's not so bad with Dodges as with other Cummins engines. Shadrach

If you have an old part # and it has changed cummins will always give you the changed # as they are updated in the computer I have a lot of cummins parts books as I use to work for cummins from 1972 to 1995

Ive always used the parts book and never had a problem. There are some items that are different due to cpl ie injectors, injector pumps, exhaust and intake manifols for egr engines. There is a good chance that if you look the parts up by serial number on quickserve you will find different part numbers but that is because they have updated to newer numbers, which the numbers in the parts book will also do if you give them to cummins.
