Alcohol/alkaline method alternatives

turbine oil?

40 bucks for the manual and bottle. Not to much of a risk. Only thing that bothers me is that I live in a place that can hit -50 easily for days on end. I can't have gelled fuel.

This is the third TDR thread today on diesel secret. Wonder if it just popped up and is legit?

Sounds almost too good to be true - WVO, a filter, and their magic sauce that does in 5 minutes what lye and methanol do overnight in a bio still?

Unfortunately in Las Vegas I can't give it a shot to find out - the county has all the WVO sources locked up for school buses.

"It only takes 2 to 3 restraunts to supply 1 person!"

Okay, lets do some elementary math. Let's say a town has 100,000 people that own a car/truck. Then let's say that only 5% of that population drives a diesel powered vehicle. That's 5000 vehicles. Now let's say that 5% of those people run their vehicles on any form of WVO. That would be 250 people per town. I don't know about your town, but my town doesn't have 500 - 750 restaurants in it!

I think instead of expecting to run 100% of the time on alternate fuel, run a percentage as a way to save on your regular fillups. Something 5-10 gallons at a time. But yes the most challenging part of this is getting a source. I called around to 4-5 restaurants and they didn't seem that enthused about the idea. We have a small cafeteria here at the hospital I work at and figured they wouldn't generate that much WVO, but what the heck I asked for the oil anyway. Amazingly they crank out 5-8 gallons a week which I have been collecting for awhile. They were throwing it in a dumpster!

A Google search comes up with many identical press releases. The Alexa data for this web site shows no address and no persons name. A look at their web site shows no contact data with a physical address or anyones name. A reverse lookup on their phone number (337) 289-0248 shows a Lafayette, LA number, with no name or address which is likely a cell phone.

Bottom line - look like a scam to you too?

Probably the same people offering the fuel purchase rebate club - join our club, save your fuel receipts and we will send you a check every month ;)

Sounds fishy to me too. I'm no chemist or tribologist but if you change the viscosity of a fluid it has to go through a process that changes its chemical properties. When that occurs it usually creates a byproduct. Just don't see how it can be done throwing in some inert chemical and wallah! bioalternative diesel

The other method of reducing viscosity is thinning it down. . . that means gasoline, alcohol, etc. . . items not good for your pump, engine, or wallet!

On one of the other forums, there was a guy who bought the book. He said that you have to cut the wvo with kerosine and gasoline then add their "special additive". The book told you to buy a large plasic trash can and home type water filters from a hardware store. The "fuel" came out with a pink color. He says some chemist friend of his will test the fuel. It would be great if you could run on $. 46/gal fuel, I am too skeptical at this point.

Today 8-27 they had something you could buy to make your owm bio-diesel on trucks on spike tv,but just as they started talking about it we had company @ the door & I couldn't watch it. So tomorrow is another day. I'm going to tape it too.

I did the FAQ on this on their site

http://www.dieselsecret.com/faq.htm#q10

It says you have to make a system from readily available parts from home depot and such at about $120... . gues it consits of container and filters an such... .

I ordered it and I am going to use it exclusivley in the summer and blend it like 20-50% for winter. I also have an anti-gel edditive I bought before from filtakleen so in summer the cost will be . 45. . and winter maybe $1. 00-1. 20 (dep. on current price. )

Eric

do you plan on doing any mods to your truck before you start using it?

I am also going to give it a try, but i am installing a fleetguard coolant heated filter before i start.

"fleetguard coolant heated filter"

What would this be for, just out of curiosity??? I am still debating about this vegi oil stuff and look forward to some input from someone that is already doing this.

My hesitation is that I am not to keen on trying out something that I have no experience with, and in particular with my daily driver and a $13,000 engine that is in perfect condition.

I am looking around for an old VW Golf Diesel like I use to have or maybe a Jetta. :)

i watched trucks on spike tv and they got a complete mixing system from freedomfuelamerica.com and they never said how much it costed but it had a filteration system and a complete mesuring system with it. i tought it looked good. but who knows.

"diesel fuel is happy with 80 to 120f temp. waste oil is not happy unless temp is 160f +"

So this sounds as if you will be using waste oil if I understand correctly. Are you going to blend this with your fuel and if it has to be 160*+ are you worried about your VP operational temp

The setup on trucks you blend with a specific portion of lye and methanol. The bi product is glycerene which sinks to the bottom and is drained away. Supposed to cost about 76 cents a gallon.
