47RH in your repower!

For those who have used a 47RH in their repower projects, and are interested in making their 47RH operate automatically, (into / out of OD, TCC lockup) without having to spend boatloads of cash on a controller or cobbling a 94/95 PCM together for control - this is THE BEST site I have found. Great info as well on the theory of operation. awesome, awesome, awesome!!

Edit: The vacuum switches these guys show will not work with the diesel, obviously. The user would have to rig up a throttle switch of some sort to remove power from the middle pin on hard acceleration. .

Good link, I'll bookmark it for sure. Very detailed information. I've done this with reusing factory ecm's, but nothing like they have it here, this will be a good solution for the next one.

Hey Dave -

I agree. Could not dig up this much *specific* technical info on TDR, very useful going forward with my project. Now what to do with these cool blue JC Whitney toggle switches?? ;)

For those doing repowers using the 47RH, a little more info for ya. . Mine did not ship with a kickdown cable bracket from PhxRe, so I got one at the local boneyard... Took some pics of the modified bracket I needed to make it work!!

Instead of trying to use a floor shifter or cobbled bellcrank, I fab'd a cable shift set up (that's the aft extension of the bracket in the first pic. ).

Basically needed a 3 inch throw Morse cable with a clevis on one end and a rod end on the other. . Some creative bushings in the column tab and transmission lever, voila' - I had the 47RH shifting *crisply* using the column shifter in my Chebby... No need for any bell crank mods, & this is pretty clean. . I'm geeked!!! Oo.

Still planning to use the transmission center controls design with some dash switch interrupts and idle limit switches to control OD / TCC...

... and for the idle / WFO limit switches..... a bracket!!! I hate this - I blew about 2 hours making the bracket, and another hour driving to Lowes and back for a couple spools of MIG wire (after running out just as I was tacking the strap. ). sheesh. .

I spent an hour prior to fab'ing just staring at my pile of scrap metal & the throttle assembly, trying to put it all together in my brain first. . ! I tapped the holes in the limit switches 6-32 & ran the screws from the backside of the bracket. . Works slick!!!
