making a 4x4 dually ride softer

My buddy has a 1984 Chevy dually 4x4 in which he has installed a 6bt. He finds the ride to be too stiff. Not being a tdr member he has asked me to post a question asking for suggestions on improving the ride quality of the truck. Any ideas?

This is a common question and every time I see it I want to ask, why buy a 1 ton truck, drive it empty, and complain about the ride? My answer is to either put 4000 lbs. in the back, or buy a 1/2 ton. Having said that I should add that my daughter's current ride is one of my old 1 tons and man it rides rough! JTMcC.

If you plan to haul a lot of weight---->airbags



If not->pull out the overloads (and if it's still to rough, you could maybe pull out one of the leafs, or get them recurved)

Is he riding on the bump stops due to the extra weight of the Cummins?
