Superchip sells a chip with 3 levels. The highest setting supposedly delivers 70 HP and 140 ft lbs but is not recommended for towing. Only the lowest setting of 40 HP and 75 ft lbs. is recommeneded for towing over 6000 lbs.

The Edge EZ is supposed to be the conservative chip for towing but delivers up to 65 HP and 185 ft lbs.

If Superchip is so adamant about only using the lowest setting for towing, how is it that the Edge EZ is considered the selection for towing if you use their product?

I am just looking for a little extra ooomph to get my 5th wheel up some hills. I want to be sure to stay within the capabilities of my 99 5speed. These trucks have gotten too expensive to have to replace it or the engine on retired income.

power delivery with a mild set of injectors may be an option for you. from what i've read it's easier on the drive line as well. I've been really happy with mine, no EGT problems etc.

if you do a search on superchips, you will see the hp claims are not even close.

the ez will work pefect on your 5 speed

I use a E-Z. It really made a BIG difference. Well worth the $$. Then I got 275 injectors. With this set up I run the EZ on low side since I have a heavy foot. I really like it for pulling.

I believe superchips was selling rebaddged EZ's for a while... . along with about 5 other companies...

The EZ or the TTPM from DD is the way to go... .

Superchips tuner

Lube man:

I had the same questions for Justin at Edge when I sent my Superchips tuner back and installed the EZ. Justin said not to worry, as the EZ's power level is designed for towing with the Auto trans. I hope so, as I have 48,000 trouble free miles so far and don't want to fix the trans because I got a box.

As far as the Superchips tuner, I tried it at all power levels. I can tell you the power difference between the Superchips tuner on the high power program setting and the EZ is huge. The EZ easily makes a lot more power and low end torque than the Superchips tuner program. I liked the idea of being able to make speedo adjustments for larger tires, but I was not happy with the product. The check engine and ABS lights kept going on when the tuner programs were installed in my computer. Although, it is a nice unit and easy to use.

The power # are only a small snapshot of peak power. It may only have a short peak of power and that is what thay look at. or it could be a gain through the whole rpm range. So with only the peak hp/torq #'s it is hard to compare. Also what is safe is just a estimate on their part So #'s will vary. :-{}
