This pump is rated at 7 psi. At WOT it drops to ZERO psi. This is a new pump. It apparently can't keep up. My other pumps, both Carters, never lost more than 4 psi when I floored it. I talked to Mallory and they said I could screw in the bypass valve adjustment, but they really thought it was the wrong pump for this application. :(

Mallory also makes a 110 Comp. FI (fuel injection) pump that will put out higher psi's, needs to be run with a regulator though. If your looking to replace the Carter with one pump, the Mallory 4150 is still hard to beat. It has a dead head adjustment that allows you to fine tune your psi's, up to 14 psi's at idle, according to Mallory. I have mine set at 13 psi's/idle/pre-filter, which shows about 12. 5 psi's post filter. With fuel line upgrades, it puts out more than I need, I can drag the psi's down to 6 or so with the TST box on, but the Mallory recovers very quickly and never stays below 8 psi's, post filter, on extended WOT runs. My only concern is the longevity, time will tell.

If your going to try one of these gerator pumps, add a decent pre-pump filter that flows well and that stops down to 40 microns. My first Mallory bit the bullet, Mallory stated cavitation due to debris was the cause. I'm now using the Earl's in line screen filter, so far so good but it's really to early to tell as it has only been in for 3 months now. I plan on cleaning the Earl's filter at 5000 miles which will be very soon. Needless to say, I'll keep y'all updated if I find anything out of the ordinary.
