Turbodiesel drivers: Do '94-98 12 valve engines have the same bolt mounting pattern for the air box as year 2000-2001 engines? I have been eyeing the Mallory mount and was wondering if it will fit a '96 Cummins/Ram.

Also have any of you that are using the BHAF read of any issues Fleetguard has regarding the filter collapsing if it should get wet? Inquiring Ram owner wants input. Thanks.

Fleetguard Filter

I haven't heard anything about the filter collapsing when wet but I did hear from a reputable source that some filters were tearing and letting fibers run through the turbo? This doesn't sound like it would be a good thing!

I'd like to know more about this potential problem too. I just got my Mallory heat shield, but haven't bought the filter yet. I read a post from another site that said you can sub the AH19037, for an AH19002/4 that has a metal mesh for catching any wet paper.

It also said the dealers were pulling the AH19037 for these new models because of this problem frying turbos.

My question is: How small does the mesh screen have to be to be able to catch wet paper particles, and still have high volume flow? Pretty small I'd guess.

Anyone know anything about these new part number filters?

Walker: I'd be interested in that other site that posted the Fleetguard part numbers. I really like this idea of the BHAF, but I don't want to risk my turbo either. Thanks for any advice and information guys.

(wasn't sure how to copy/paste) so:

The post is from 11-27-01 by TDR member Bob Wagner called "may be of interest to BHAF users" . He put a link to the site there.
