How many miles are people getting on a set? Mine went out today with about 5k on them. I replaced them and added some dielectic greese. I hope to get more on this set.

What are they?

I usually let someone else take the bait, but feeling brave tonight. What the heck is a mallory brush?

I know that Nowel ( HVAC) replaced his after one year of service. I never checked mine in the last two Mallory pumps that failed as I would not have a clue as to what failing brushes look like  . I did have the lower assembly apart in both pumps. How was the install, have any pics. to guide the less educated ????

I dont have any pics of the brushes. But thay are really easy to change. I am going to get a spare set for the glove box.

Thay look too short to get a good connection. The pump would stop and If I give it a hit it would start again.

Thanks SE, wasn't looking for pics. of the pump install as I've been there and done that several times now. Glad to see you posted them though for any other members viewing pleasure.

That is what happened to mine I bet...

Well, I am one of the mallory users, my first pump lasted 6 mos with around 60k miles on it. I limped it along by taking a sledge and "tap"ing it to get it to come back on. I still have not sent it off to get fixed and bet if I replaced the brushes, that that might fix it. The second one has around 40k on it in the last 4-5 mos. It is still going strong. Do you have a part # on the brushes? Also where could I pick up a set?

There are 2 differnt types of mallory brushes. A old style and a new one. You would have to take them out to see what ones you have. But it is really easy. I just went to a local speed shop to get them . Thay had them in stock too.

I know it's diesel fuel but those glass filters are dangerous. Sorry not bustin your chop's just letting you know. :)
