i was pulling my flatbed back home after using it to get my Cummins back home after finally getting a transmission back in it, and i was goin through a deep dip out on a coutry road. i wanted to see what my twins would do and see how hot they would run goin through this dip. whenever i got through it, i started to smell something burning, and i thought it was the clutch. i took it easy on it the rest of the way. got home, unhooked the trailer, pulled it under a carport and shut it off, then smoke started boilin out from under the hood! i thought what in the world is goin on?? popped the hood and lotsa smoke came out! come to find out the material bolted to the firewall to keep noise and heat down had let loose and decided to lay across the downpipe to my twins, and started to get a little warm!! has anyone pulled that stuff out and replaced it with Dynamat? just curious, cuz i cant stand that material! and i want to pull it all out! sorry for the long post, but thought you might geta kick outta this experience!

Just lucky you caught it in time, maybe a few more minutes and that might not be the only thing burning---glad you got it in time:D-----. I don"t care for mine either, but out camping a few times the rodents liked the taste of it. :-laf:-laf:-laf

Yes. I bought a roll of 2'' and wrapped everything but the cold pipe. Under hood temps went way down and I think it looks better.

what did you wrap it with? was it some of that header wrap stuff you can get outta summit or jegs?

I wrapped my with 2 layers of header wrap before I installed the twins. Header wrap is pretty common at most parts stores, but it is not extremely cheap.
