Is diesel added from all cylinders during active DPF regen?

Well, its been awhile. Me and the 2009 CTD just didn't see eye to eye. The continuous DPF plugging and trips to the dealer got the best of me. I know, I could have deleted it, but that wasn't an option for "job related" reasons. So I dumped it for a 2013 Hemi Sport. The Sport was a beautiful truck. But when towing, it fell short. Study the picture. That's towing 7000lbs.

So, I purchased a 2016 CTD 2500 Tradesman. Tow rating I believe is 17,200lbs. Later in life I want to get a medium sized 5th wheel. Other than a slight pull to the right, I love it. I haven't heard many good things about the Firestone tires, so I am going to rotate the tires and see if that helps. After 1400 miles, I'm still above 3/4 on the DEF gauge. Those are non-towing miles.. So ill be around!! Thanks RR

Wow....4mpg:eek: Welcome back....the Firestone tires are not that impressive. On my 2014, @ 10,000 miles they looked to be half gone, IMHO they are a 25,000 mile tire.

Welcome back! On your sig fill in that your truck is a 2500 that will help later with questions.

Let's see some pics!

I did not even waste my time with the NEXEN's that came on my Dually. At 200 miles I swapped them for MS2's. I sold them for $650 and paid $1,278 out the door so I was happy. Something you may consider if the tires keep giving you poblems.

Wow, I was on the Firestone web sight and found the oem tire on the 2500 Ram cost $350.00 each. I was floored at the price but then I saw a review of a guy who claimed he had 80,000 on a set and said they were still going. Then I thought if they will go near 100k there worth 350.00 each. If they only last 25,000 miles they are overpriced garbage. I have 3k on mine now and look new. I guess time will tell. The rubber does feel like a soft compound.

The Firestone tires should be called Flinstones. Cause you'll be walking. Mine had flats regularly due to crappy tire construction and they were shot at 18k miles. I replaced them with Toyo Open Country and couldn't be happier. Whatever you do, get rid of them before you do any serious towing. I really miss the michelins that came on my third gens. They were good tires.

I drive like an old man and most of the miles are short freeway commuting, so I don't think much of the wear is my fault, so to speak. Though it was only 10,000 miles, I rotated them once, wear patterns were fine as far as inflation and alignment. I hadn't really noticed it until I took the spare down to to remove my hitch and noticed the difference between the new spare tread depth and the tires on the ground. I don't remember the exact numbers but when I measured the tread depth(with one of those tread depth doohickeys), it showed just a 1/16th over from half gone. I don't think they are bad tire, just pretty soft rubber. Both my 2014 and my 2016 ride very smooth so again, not a bad tire, just soft......YMMV.......

I remember those.....the LTX A/S's......the ones that came on my 2007.5 RAM 3500 MegaCab Laramie SRW 4x4 that required 4x4 to be engaged to drive off level grass with a light dew. :-laf

I actually ditched my junk LTX A/S's within about 400 miles in place of some LT285/70R17 Firestone Destination A/T's.
#ad

I had a set of LTX M/S's on a '98 RAM 2500 and two of the four were never right. They had horrible wet / damp traction as well.

I'll bet some of those complaining of tire life......are the same ones complaining about fuel economy.

gsbrockman- anytime you want to throw away Michelin M/S LTXs, throw 'em MY way- on my 3rd set & have had excellent luck with them!

I just put a 2nd set of MS 2's on, my first set a got 73,000 out of. Better than the MS 1's I get around 60,000 out of them.
(Running empty and loaded). MS 2,s seem to hug the road better.

Hey welcome back! That poor hemi was screaming! That being said, they really seemed to have heat management under control.

Nope, excellent fuel economy and my michelins gave great year round traction with winter being my focus. No chance for any "wet grass" around here for six or seven months of the year.

Firestone factory tires were junk on my fords and Dodges. I'm sure the tires we can buy from a tire shop are ok but the factory treads are just plain old cheap and wear out fast.

Agreed. At 25,000 miles mine will be lucky to have 1/8 inch tread left. That is legal here.

If it weren't for the contracts with car/truck manufacturers, Firestone would be out of business.
Or they would be forced to make a better product.

We ran Firestone Destinations LEs on the wife's Durango for a set. They wore way too fast; about 25k miles and traded for Toyo AT IIs. The Firestone dealer said they had been getting a lot of complaints about low mileage wear. I told him "we won't be back." Couldn't be happier with the Toyos on the Durango. They just keep going. We were so happy with the Toyos on the Durango that I put a set of the AT IIs on my '05. They are wearing pretty well there as well, but I can't wait for them to wear out as the AT IIs don't have satisfactory traction on the ranch in the winter. I will be going back with a set of MTs. The MTs will wear faster, but at least I can get around on the ranch. Just the price of admission.
