IT's been the third time out this year with the 5th wheel of 9000 lbs, and man alive, I am impressed.

Funny thing, I swear that it pulls harder every trip.

Dropped in the 275's last summer, and they work marvelous- takes a really serious hill to lose 70MPH on the climb.

It is also a pleasure to KNOW that this engine was DESIGNED to pull - it's almost like it's actually happier with a big load on it!

Coming up one of the secondary roads this weekend, with pretty decent climbs, a Chevy Z71 towing a slightly smaller 5er than mine pulled out behind me at a four way stop. He was about five car lengths behind me on the flat for a few miles BUT THEN..... TWO hills in succession. I was over the second hill, JUST as I could see him cresting the first hill.

That was the last I saw of him the whole trip.

Since it was a long weekend up here in Canada, holiday traffic is REALLY heavy on the highways.

I kept wondering where all the trailers were, but then it suddenly dawned on me... THEY ARE ALL BEHIND!!!! :D :D

Heck, my wife has even started telling our fellow campers the power and benefits of the Cummins. Now THAT is a testament my friends!!

Cheers,

Shawn

Ain't it the truth?!? I just love to get near some other brand truck pulling a similar load. I recently came up behind a PSD in hilly terrain, and he would go 75 down hill and 50 up hill. The first good long incline with some passing room, I left him like he was backing up. Gave him a good horn blast, wave and smile, and left him in the sunset!

I remember the first power smoke I found out towing. We were heading west across PA on some of the big hills (I call mountains) I came up behind this Ferd towing about a 26' trailer. I pulled out into the Right lane, and noticed him lay into the Ferd. What an inventation! Man I passed him up that hill so quick, towing my 30' 5er it made his trailer sway! Sure it was a mid 90 vintage, but still, he thought he had a chance HA HA HA!

I used to tow with a 360 cid gasser, NO COMPAIRISON!

Man,the commins loves to pull

I know what you mean, put a 18 foot walleye boat behind the 5th wheel and you will see just how much see loves to pull. That cummins will pull that rug down the rod as fast as you won't to go. I was pulling back from lake fork the other day, with the 5th wheel and boat behind the 5th wheel (65 feet) when the highway potrol pulled me over. He said that i was doing 80 I said that was a cummins for you. and he said what and I said cummins the 6 cylinder engine that's under the hood, He said is that a 6 and then we started to talk about torque and horsepower and I did not get a ticket . Boy, we need more people like that on the road.

108 degrees outside of Concord and pulling heavy!

Absolutely amazing. Just returned to Modesto from Concord in 108* heat. Saw up to 111* on the truck's computer but mostly 108*. My truck ran at 200* on the coolant guage. Never higher. This was while I'm loaded right up against my truck's GCWR of 21. 5K lbs. !!!!! My airconditioner was on the whole time as well!!!! Had the feeling the truck was actually "bored".

Learned a lesson though. Never pull a 35ft 5er up Marshcreek road into Clayton. That road sure wasn't in the kind of shape I'd remembered! I emptied all my cabnets on to the floor and banged side mirrors with oncoming traffic! Yowza!

I get to "test" mine out again this weekend. I will be hauling 11. 000 lbs. The Cummins really makes me look forward to hauling and having to unload the hay!

I hear ya'll. I like the racing stuff and all but I've always said that you really can't truly appreciate the Cummins until you make it do what it was born and raised to do... . PULL!

Old Dog, know what you mean on the DPS thing. Our local trooper was in the store the other day and someone was saying something about speeding. I said, "Aw heck, that ol' diesel doesn't have enough power to break the speed limit. " He just busted out laughing. Anyone who's a halfway regular in the store knows about my truck :D

Looking forward to the PULL!

Talking to the fellow campers in the campsite, most of the gasser drivers DREAD towing the trailer home again.

I look FORWARD to it!!!! :D

Got so excited about hitching up and going home this past weekend that I pulled the trailer over one of the wheel chocks in my haste to get on the highway! Somehow I completely forgot to remove one of the wheel chocks. Didn't realize it until I got home though :(

Now let's see... when is the next trip..... lol ;)

Hey Rob, you coming this way? You might get a chance to try your Cummins out with 11,000lbs in some real heat. Come on over tomorrow, it's only going to be 105F in Pasco :D. Bring your swim trunks 'cuz I might set the sprinkler up in the front yard for ya :D

Hey Shawn,

Keep smiling!!! I pulled my 5th wheel with my Chevy 350 for 2 years before I got smart and parked it. I would worry myself about all the weight I packed up in that trailer, whether I could make it over the next pass at more than 40mph!

Now, I just scream up the passes and sometimes forget I even have anything towing behind me! There's never a hesitation in acceleration. It makes the truck a dream to drive. As for pulling into campgrounds and rest stops, conversations are instant, esp when the guys see a woman behind the wheel of this rig!! I love it! I've even converted a few non-cummins believers over... Ain't it great!!:D

" now Shawn you can't pull the 5er for two days so don't hook it up yeat" lol

The "little" 6 likes to pull
