It gives the best reading from preturbo. Post turbo can be off as much as 500 degrees. If your a stock engine. It wouldn't matter to much. If the screws have been turned go preturbo.

HTML:
any danger that the turbo will puree or be pureed by a pre turbo mount

Lots of people ask that question... many still fear this to the point of obsession.

I think there is more danger in "theory" than in "practicality".

I think the proof of that is in these archives... . I can't recall reading about anyone having this problem in my 3 or 4 years in the TDR.

I know some old timers (truckers and truck mechanics) who swear you can break off the tip of the t-couple and trash your turbo. I still maintain what I read here- if you have chunks taking out your probe, you have bigger issues. Same for burning off the tip- it is rated to something obscene like 2500deg. go preturbo, esp with a mechanical pump- way too tempting to mess wtih, and I have seen 450deg differences under load.

Pre turbo for me. I never even thought about the probe breaking before. Does this mean I should start worrying now... ?
