Manual regeneration?

Most of my driving lately has been back and forth to work, about 40 miles round-trip. Do I need to worry about regeneration? If so, what are the steps to accomplish it? Many thanks

First, Welcome to the TDR! Glad to have ya! I see you've been lurking around since 2009. . heh

How long have you been doing the 40mile trips? Are they high speed? 40mi might be enough to do a full regen, if you dont have a lead foot. If you havent seen any warning messages within 3-4 months, I wouldnt worry.

Cant do a 'manual' regen, only the dealer can, with the Starscan tool. You can take a good 30minute drive at highway speed, that will do a regen, if needed. Or, let the truck idle in the driveway, after approx 5min of idle, it will ramp up speed and do a regen right in the driveway, again-- if needed.

Your truck is performing regenerations as required. The engine requires no driver input. Daily forty mile trips at highway speed every work day is plenty for normal regeneration cycles.

Thanks for the input. I had some recollection that folks were doing a manual regen but I couldn't put my finger on the reasons or solution.

TDR is great! A coworker introduced me to his Ram turbodiesel and the TDR back in 1995 which was all I needed. Finally got my Ram in 2010 One of the best decisions I ever made! I joined TDR in 2009 when my '03 Hemi started acting up, and I new it was my time!

There isn't a way to manually start a regen, but you can idle for 5 minutes and if the rpms go to 900 it's in regen mode. That's more for farm/hunting use where highway speeds cannot be obtained. If you are not getting any messages your driving habits are sufficient.
