i'm looking for feedback on installing a manual t/c lock-up switch.

does this procedure allow t/c lock-up in 1st and 2nd gear also.

It does allow for lockup in first and second. I have never tried it in reverse, but I would guess that it will do it there as well. I added this for pulling grain wagons full of corn in the fall, because Im always at 25 to 30 mph, so 2nd gear locked up is perfect for speed and not making a lot of heat. Pretty simple to do also.

My 02 never rebuilt 47re will only lockup (with switch) in 3rd and 4th. I was under the impression that only a trans with a shift kit will lockup into 1st and second.

A stock transmission will only stay locked in 3rd or 4th. If you flip the switch at a stop then accelerate, the convertor will lock as soon as the transmission shifts into 2nd, but will not stay locked if you let off the throttle. As bcbigfoot said, one needs a modified VB to allow lockup in 1&2 with engine braking.

I had a 1997 powerstroke and summit racing sold a very nice tc lock up switch by B&M, used it on my stock od trans, even forgot to turn off a couple times at stop lights, that trans never failed, also they sold a B&M line pressure controller with 2 settings one for tow and one for regular driving, i used both with no issues, please someone tell me that our transmissions are as good as something from the 90's.
