Hi, I've tried searching forums for any info on people that have swapped and automatic transmission into a manual truck. I've found someone who is looking for a manual transmission and I'm tired of mine would like an automatic in it. Does anybody have any ideas on what problems I would run into like the truck computer, wiring, swapping columns, any info would be greatly appreciated, I already know I'll have driveshaft length problems, the auto is in an extended cab short bed 24 valve, and mine is a regular cab 24 valve.

Been there done that. The big question is electronics, I opted for a 47RH and some switches in the cab. You will need some different mounts, a dip stick tube, some type of shifter, (I put mine on the floor), transmission cooler, transmission kickdown cable, some wiring for backup lights, neutral safety switch. The only real problem I have is that the ECM will buck when you put it in gear cause it thinks its a manual. I am going to have Marco/Bob fix that. If you are 4WD you will need to change the input shaft on the TCase. And have your drive shafts redone.

There is some food for thought.

I'm looking to swap everything off the donor truck include the column shift even dash if possible so it looks and feels factory and try to not spend a fortune, if I have spend a lot I don't want to do it at all.

if you have the donor and its a complete swap no real expense other than breakage/ upgrades. you'll have to change a lot ,though. the adapter plate, flywheel, trans, transfer, cooling lines, cooler(not stock), heat exchanger, remove check valve, put tin plate over hole in the floor, columns, cluster, pedals, drive shafts, crossmember, tps, kickdown, ECM, get a trans temp guage. and if you get through all that ,...
then you can enjoy the heated banter of the auto transmission threads !! LOL!
