I spilled coffee on my new gaskets  so now I'm not sure if I trust them. Does anyone know where I can buy just the gaskets alone? An on-line store or national parts store chain? I checked with all my local auto parts stores and they all say they can't get them. Geno's only offers the filter change kit. I know RTV works good, but I like using the gaskets because I don't have to clean the oil film from the mounting surface.

How does the MT filter kit work with Permatex's "The Right Stuff" gasket maker? I use the stuff on my PTO (drivers side) and diff covers, but I'm afraid it will hold too strong and cause me to bend or distort the filter plate and cover when I remove them during an oil change.

Creed,

Geno's gives you new gaskets with the filter change kit.

I believe most guys don't use the gaskets anymore. Permatex alone works the best. I had seeping problems with the cork gasket myself. I think i used the thin paper gasket only and permatex. I didn't use the cork.

You could try locally for the gaskets they are from the Eaton Fuller PTO filter or manual transmission filter.

Thanks HEMI®Dart.

Seems like the other thread suggests the outer gasket may cause the filter to fit loosely. I think I'll try it without the outer gasket. I did find a gasket source from the local Ford dealer. I figured the ZF may use a gasket on the cover - it does - Part # "E7HZ 7166A".

Still... What about Permatex's "The Right Stuff" gasket maker? Does anyone suggest using it on the filter plate and cover?
