Just bought 4 qts of Amsoil, thought I'd give it a try because the transmission was getting a little hard putting into reverse. Now that I got the old oil out (no problem) how the heck do you get the new oil back in without spilling it all over the place?

VERY CAREFULLY #ad

When U find out let me know I would like to change mine as well I just replaced the rear end oil with the amsoil synthetic since I tow a rather large trailer.

Just use a plunger type hand pump from the auto parts. If you want to go the cheap route you probably already have one in your home, the type used for hand cleaner, soap, shampoo etc. Just slip some tubing over the outlet and pump away.

Get one of those screw on valves with the clear plastic hose. I got one when I bought the MagHytec rear cover. Then just replace the hose with a longer piece so you can run it down to the transmission from the engine compartment.

illflem Thank you so much. I ran out to the garage found a 4 ft. piece of clear plastic hose with about a 3/8ths id. Poped opened the hood fished the hose down to the transmission. I got a pointed nossle off an old gear lube bottle put it in the hose and filled away. Darn it was easy! Thanks so much for the idea. Jim

Jim,thank QRTRHRS,not me his idea was more like what you did than mine. The pumps I was speaking of do come in handy for sucking out master cylinders and PS reservoirs though.

Sorry QRTRHRS,
I was just moving to fast again. If I had to do over again I'd use a larger id hose
to fit over a small funnel, but that's the ticket to filling the trans, from the engine compartment. Thanks again,Jim

JG.
Don't laugh and I'll tell ya how I changed mine.
I took a water bottle cap off one of those pop type you buy at 7-11 stores and put it on a quart bottle. With the plunger pulled out I fitted a short length of clear hose over the end so when I turn the bottle up to squeeze, like when you drink, the hose is in the hole in the case and you squeeze till the air is out, let it down get more air, go again. Sounds silly but worked well for me.
Didn't spill any either.
Good luck
Preston

I ground a allen wrench slightly to get the plug out & then drained it with the bottom PTO cover screw. Thanks for the tip drawson. #ad

I put the 4 qts of Amsoil in the empty 1 gal Amsoil bottle & pumped it in, tired arm & all. Sure shifts bunches easier now. I've got 65k miles.

What were the numbers on that AMAZING OIL you put in your transmission? What weight?

Hey, thanks but I can't take credit for the screw on fitting idea either. I bought my rear cover from Geno's and they thoughtfully included the oil filler.

I have four quartz of Amsoil 2000 to put in my transmission as well. My outdoor garage has been a bit drafty lately and now more snow on the way.
