I have been reading the forum columns for the last 60 days and I cannot tell you how much that I have learned from all of you in the discussions that have taken place. I have owned 3 Dodge 3/4 ton diesels in the past and currently have a 2001 3500 4x4 H. O. 6 speed, which I acquired 2 months ago. I pull a 14,000 lb. 5er for travel and recreation. Although the stock 3500 is better than anything that I have utilized in the past, I still would have to downshift at the peak of long grades to 5th gear in order to make the top doing at least 50 mph. I am not a youngster (58), probably fairly conservative, know absolutely nothing about what is under the hood and I don't really care. What I want are results. And if I do not understand a subject, I listen very well to the judgment of others that do. For this my thanks to all of you that have contributed to the vast amount of discussion on a variety of topics with respect to enhanced diesel performance. So here is what I had completed this past week:

* Installed pyrometer gauge and turbo boost gauge on the pillar.
* Installed K & N air filter.
* Installed a BD VA box.
* Installed Bosch 275 injectors.
* Installed a Practical Solutions Boost Module and Elbow.
* Installed a BD 4" muffler and pipe system from Turbo to tail.
* Joined TDR to thank all of you.

Of course, I paid someone else to do this (local to Albuquerque) because the first time I saw what was under the hood of this vehicle was when I brought it in to the shop a few days ago. I do have other strengths and one of them is to recognize the absence of capability in specific areas.

All that I can say about performance is "WOW"! I cannot believe the difference. I am very, very satisfied and I can pull the fifth wheel without any in trepidation whatsoever. People look at me while I pass them going up long, strong grades. And, with your recommendations, the EGT heat situation appears not to be an issue.

I personally, could not have investigated this subject without all of your help. I am very grateful that TDR exists, that it provides such a wonderful source of education, information and knowledge even for those like me that are mechanically challenged. To all of you who have contributed to this forum, my personal thanks.

With respect,

Ed Sigman

Welcome aboard, Ed!

I was just wondering who did your guages and injectors. I was just out today looking, and the price I was quoted for buying and installing guages was a bit ridiculous. I can definitely get better from this site for a lot cheaper, but if I can find someone here in town that is reasonable and good, I'd probably go for it.

Enjoy the sire, and see ya around town-
Chris

This TDR thing is great. I've learned a ton and saved a bunch of money by joining. I've also met some new friends who are quality people. In fact, Howard (LSMITH) helped me via email on a recent project. It's good to know you have friends out there who will help you when you're scratching your head. Getting involved with a local chapter is a lot of fun too. Welcome to the club, Ed!

Welcome

There are a couple of us here in the frontier.
Who did you have do the installs ????

We'll have to get together, There are a couple of us bombers in town.

Are you going to May Madness in Vegas next week ????

Did your accessories dealer tell you that you will most likely need a new clutch soon??? Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but, from what I've read and heard, you better take it easy when pulling with those mod's or you will slip the stock clutch. Remember to keep the rpm's up.

Since you expressed concern regarding the weakness of the clutch, I ordered one today from South Bend Clutch which should be here next week for installation. Thanks for bring up the subject. I will be going on vacation next month and I really do not want to encounter a problematic clutch issue pulling the 5er across a couple thousand mile trip.

thanks for the advice.

Ed

Ed, Welcome to TDR. Great people.
Only one problem, If think 58 is old you have not bombed or driven you're rig enough.
Keep bombing and driving before you know it you will be 50 again.
