Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel Leak Concern...

Hi everyone,

This morning I finally decided that I got enough baseline from the gauges and now ready to put the Edge EZ in, so I look for some info on the technique on removing the map sensor plug, didn't find any. So I head out, found the plug and tried to remove it, there must be some trick to get that thing off and I just don't know it. I see on the bottom of the plug there is a red plastic bit, but not for sure which way it should move if it should to get the plug off.

So I'm looking for a little information on the trick to get it off.

Thanks, Michael

To remove the MAP plug, you have to slide that red piece off sideways. It's basically a locking clip once the plug is on. You will see that the red clip is "C" shaped. Pry it off to the side OPPOSITE of the open end of the "C". You don't have to remove it completely, just pop it up. This will "unlock" the red clip and you will easily be able to disconnect the MAP plug.

The MAP plug fitting on the EZ is identical, so you can see how it works on that plug.

Let me know if this helps.

Well, after that bit of information... it was too simple... almost made me feel stupid, but better to ask then break something.

Now my truck has more response and I like the extra power... just hope that I don't have to worry about a clutch for a while... I'll just have to stay off the power for a while.

You should be fine. The trick to keeping your clutch for awhile is to not get on it, until the clutch is fully engaged. I am at 106,000 turns on my original clutch and started with the EZ at 15,000 or so and then moved up to the Edge-Comp and 275's with an ATS 3 piece and 4 inch exhaust. Your clutch should hold up pretty well as long as your not dropping the hammer off every light or side slipping your foot off the clutch. :D It is nice to have the extra power, trick is not to abuse it. Good luck;)

We tow a 13,500 lb 5th wheel that puts us on the road at 21,180 lbs GCW (21,500 lbs GCWR). My stock clutch lasted fine with the EZ and other mods listed in my signature. Only when I went to the DD2's did the stock clutch give it up and get replaced with the South Bend Con OFE.
