My 01 Dodge Cummins with 100k has occasionally been experiencing the dead pedal syndrome for the past several months. I pulled up the the trouble codes 0237 (map voltage too low) and 0234 (map voltage too high). I have read the blue chip diesel article and I am afraid my vp44 is about done. Is it possible that I just need to replace the MAP sensor or is my vp44 for sure done?

Are you sure you have a P0234 DTC? That's "Turbo Boost Limit Exceeded". Or did you mean P0238?

Either a P0237 or P0238 can be caused by a faulty MAP sensor, wiring problems, or a bad ECM. Replacing the MAP señor would be the easiest thing to try first. Worst case if it doesn't fix the problem, you have a good spare.

Please keep us posted.

Those are both voltage conditions, most likely not a sensor issue. The first thing to do is check for voltage supply to the sensor plug and check continuity. If youve been on Chips website, your off to a good start. Follow his tests to the T, you will find your problem.

The three codes i got were P0237, P0236, and P0234. I did not get the code P0238. I could have been mistaken as to what each code meant. I plan on checking for voltage and I will test for continuity as well.
