I will be installing twins in the next month or so and am gathering all the needed parts as well as thinking the job through ahead-of-time. My current 4" downpipe with a Marmon turbo flange is not compatible with the HX40 style primary turbo flange and is slid into a 4. xx" flared end pipe (ahead of the muffler) and then the slip joint was welded.

I don't have access to a o/a torch, but do have one of those some hobby MAPP torch sets. Would the MAPP be enough heat to break the welds so that I can salvage the flared end pipe or would I be resigned to using a Sawzall?

Mapp is a very functional gas for cutting steel. It is a close cousin to propane but when setup properly does a heck of a job. We use mapp on our burning table and regularly make cut's through 4-6" of steel. As long as your "hobby kit" utilizes an oxygen bottle as well as mapp with a regular cutting torch it will work fine. The only real diffrence between it and acetylene is the size tip you use for the same job.

Are you going to make the Meridian dyno next month? I intend to be there saturday.

Scott-

Right now I have to say no... I'm trying to buy a house and get hitched in the next few months. I wish I could though especially after getting the twins and CP3 installed. Basically I have the twins, CP3, and Walbro sitting in boxes in my apartment living room waiting for a nice garage to work in :( :{
