In this short Q&A, Marchionne sounds like a 'no nonesense' guy. He's going to introduce diesels into the markets starting with the Grand Cherokee in 1st quarter of 2013 and work their way down into the market based on American acceptance. He didn't think they (diesel engines) would reach the small end of the market, but that ultimately consumers would determine that.

I had seen another interview with Marchionne and someone asked whether 1/2 ton pickups would have diesels. He said that they already have a power train ready to go into one, but didn't know how much Americans would be willing to pay for it.
