Competition Marine gasket

[24VChev]

When installing a 12V marine gasket on a 24V head what mods are required to the marine gasket. I have the gasket on the block and it appears everything lines up.

water holes ,, need some hollow hole punches and make the holes the correct size as in the 24v

Thanks, I did notice that the water holes did appear to be a bit on the small side. I should have kept the old 24V gasket to compair.



So just get a hole punch and open them up a bit?

Be careful when punching the holes... . I have seen several gasket failures from guys that "just punched them out".

whats the best way to modify the gasket then. I assume a hole punch is not a good idea then.

Is the . 010 the same part# as standard or is it supposed to end with an 8

The . 010 is 3283337 and the standard is 3283335.

I don't know if it is necessary to punch out the holes, but the holes along the exhaust side on the main surface of the head won't seal in some cases because the 12V gasket has those steel ribs aloong there. You can bore them out and hammer in cup plugs.

is there not a . 010 # for the ISB the stock # is 3945803
