Brother BIG!
Which Synthetic stock did you get for your crew served, Bear buster =)!
GregH
The Marlin Greg? or the 338/378? I got a HS precision for the 338/378 and the only one from the above link, unless they have another at this time. When I got mine they only had the black one that looks kind of cool against the SS Marlin.

Brother BIG!
Yep, the Marlin! I like the H-S stocks, for bolt actions. They just don't make one for the pre-64 M-70 Winchester.

Greg

I put on the black stock for wild west I had that sight on my favorites, if they have another stock that fits the Marlin its not known to me, at the same time I had the Limbsaver Air tech recoil pad put on it, more to take up the lack of stock vs my Goliath length arms, the reduction in felt recoil is significant by the way, and makes shooting the Hammerheads just a bit more tolerable but with 540 grains of Whooop A** not much is going to make it feel like a 22

I took a look back Greg I see that they do in fact have something called Glacier cote???? I didn't notice that. I was more than likely still floundering from the price tag, but have since got over that!! it has held up very well considering what I put it thru, everyday going out to the barn and around the place, in a saddle scabbard, tossed in the tractor, in a scabbard on the hay sled or wagon, in the shop its pretty much with me all the time when im outdoors. I was asked the other day if I needed it all the time, No!!! just the time I don't have it and need it is enough to have it all the time.

Brother BIG!
Yep, Thats the one! I was wondering who made it!
With the 540 Gr. Hammer Heads its gotta be like a shoulder fired "Pack Howitzer":D
GregH

This guy is shooting a 350 gr slug, and practicing its all and good, I did the same after watching this video many moons ago, I pack it full of the Hammers. Really its not as hard as one might think, until you keep racking the 540's until it just goes click. After the first its amazing how much POA impact changes :-laf Most of the time a new shooter wont want much to do with it after the first 540 comes out

The stock has Wild West on it and may be made for them by someone else

I am a complete novice when it comes to hunting, but I am eager to learn more. I'm drawn to machinery in general, and the action of these weapons appeals to me. I don't think it's productive for most males I know to merely empty a clip. I've never done any kind of competitive shooting before, but who knows where I'll end up! So, for the time being, I'll just plink.
Mr. H, I never considered the Ruger #1 because I was unaware of its operation! (D'oh!) But I just finished watching a YouTube video and it's fantastic!

Somehow I missed this topic in ‘14, but I’m glad it resurfaced. In my younger years I never really cared much for lever action guns. We used to hunt with a large group of guys and there was a handful of them who had 30-30’s. I witnessed three different occasions where the hammer slipped off one of their thumbs and the gun fired into the ground either in front of them or someone else. Now, I understand it’s not the gun, it’s the idiot holding it. This just put a bad taste in my mouth for this style rifle. Fast forward 30 years and my Marlin 45/70 has been my go to gun for quite a few years. It amazes me how much I enjoy this gun. Every time I look at it it puts a smile on my face!
