Mopar Nationals, who's going?

Scheid Diesel Extravaganza 07

The Mason-Dixon Turbo Diesel Club ( http://www.masondixontdc.com ), host’s of the infamous Spring Fling and Fall Brawl, invites everyone to join us at our first, and hopefully annual, "The 1st rule is NOT to lose. The 2nd rule is NOT to forget the 1st rule" Drag and Dyno Day at Cecil County Dragway ( http://www.cecilcountydragway.com ) in Rising Sun, Maryland on August 11, 2007.

This will be an all day event of enjoyable and relaxing ¼ mile diesel drag racing on an excellent prepared track. Of course there will also be many inevitable impromptu grudge match races!! If drag racing is not your thing, David Dunbar and the DPM mobile Dynojet 248C ( http://www.dieselperformancemotorsports.com ) will also be on hand for those that want to “Rock the Rollers”. Here is your chance to spend an entire day racing, tuning, wrenching and BSing with diesel racers and enthusiasts from all over the country in a relaxed, non pressured atmosphere and also get on a dyno that has had some of the highest hp trucks in the country on it.

A few of the specific details are still being worked out, but here are some of the basics:

There will be a limited number of “Racer” tickets issued (approx. 150-180). A “Racer” ticket will entitle the bearer (driver) admission into the track and as many passes as they can make. To make a pass down the track, you MUST have a purchased a ticket. Gates open at 8 am, racing from 9 am to 4 pm. Ticket pricing and contact info will be posted when available.

This is a “Run whatcha brung”, “Outlaw” style event! No limits, No restrictions!! Although, all vehicles must pass NHRA tech. Helmet for 13. 99 or quicker, Cage for 11. 49 or quicker, etc. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/ETQuickRef.html Sportsman and Pro tree will be available.

Admission into the track for spectators and pit crews is $10 per person

The DPM dyno will be $75 for 3 pulls and will be a first come, first serve sign up the day of the event.

Tracy Smith from TRS Photo ( http://trsphoto.exposuremanager.com ) will also be on hand to shoot professional racing photos for the day! Photos will be available for purchase from her website shortly after the event.

Any vendors or sponsors wishing to attend this event can contact me at -- email address removed --

Several of the Pro Street Diesels have committed to attend so far to see just how fast they can go and more to come later!!

There are plenty of Hotels within 2-10 miles of the track and I will be working on some group rates for some to post later. Also, the Elk Neck State Park is close by for those that might want to combine it with a Camping trip.

So………mark your calendars and keep your eyes and ears out for when tickets become available!!!!

Thanks,

Greg

sweet thanks for all your hard work and getting this set up. i think this is taking the MDTDC to the next level. i cant wait. you know for sure i will be there, with my slow handshaker doing the best i can not to have it come apart.

Robert

What Robert said. Greg has worked hard so far to make this happen, and I have not doubt that between now and August, interest in this event will grow and grow.

Everyone mark your calendars NOW. You have 7 months, so I don't want to hear ANY excuses that you have to paint the bedroom, or walk the dog, or go repave your Uncle's brother's 1st cousin's driveway. :-laf

P. S. - This is the weekend after Carlisle All-Trucks, so tell the wives and girlfriends now.

Mdtdc

Greg if you need any help with anything let me know.

Cliff

I know it's kind of last minute, but for those that want to bring some burgers, or dogs, or whatever, I will be bringing the grill. I will also be bringing my car trailer, in case of carnage. Hopefully, I won't have to use it. [:D]

The dyno is here and everything is ready at the track!! :)

Steve (ctd8999) and his partner in crime Fred (offshoreracer), were at the gate when I stopped up this afternoon to finalize everything!!

Steve battled some of the Friday night street racers with a couple 11. 8 passes!!

Weather is going to be awesome!! There are still some Racer Tickets available at the gate so make sure you are there early!!

It's going to be a great day!!

Thanks to all who attended!!

For the Mason Dixon Turbo Diesel Clubs first attempt at a drag race event, it wasn't too bad. But of course, there was some “Murphy's Law” that came into play 

For those that showed up to dyno, I and Diesel Performance Motorsports apologize for the dyno problems!! Computer issues were plaguing the dyno and we were unable to even get it fired up. Mike worked as hard as possible for at least 4 hrs trying to resolve the problems to no avail. Again, we apologize and I would like to thank Mike and his brother for the tremendous effort!!

The goal for the drag racing was to have a nice and relaxed test and tune. I believe that was accomplished although it would have been nice if a few more racers showed up. The Iron Man awards have to go to a couple of the Duramax guy's (sorry, I forget your names right now) who racked up 30 passes each!! Again, all in all it was a great day with a gate total of 50 racers and 180 spectators.

A big congrats goes out to Cliff (oasis-3) who won our impromptu Gamblers race between 8 entrants for a pot of $160.

Also, my long standing record for the fastest diesel truck at Cecil County Dragway of 11. 88 , which by the way I didn't even know I held until the track manager told me today!, was broken twice!! First by Steve Bohatch (cdt8999) with an 11. 84, then by Wade Moody (Diesel Power) with an 11. 04. A big “Way to go!!!!”

Special thanks to Tracy Smith who took over 250 awesome pictures from at the line and they are available through her website at TRS Photo - Event Gallery

I passed my video camera to our official Movie man Ernie (Fiveology) LOL and he took a pile of video! I am uploading it now and will post the link later.

A big Thank You goes out to Cecil County Dragway for their hospitality and excellent facility!! Also to all the participants and spectators! There was not one complaint from the track about anyone's dragstrip edict or conduct and they gladly invited us back next year! I would also like to thank Jim and Lloyd (fellow MD-TDC officers) and all the other MD-TDC members that showed up and gave their support to this event.

Hopefully we can learn from this experience and have an even bigger and better event next year!!

Thanks again!!!

Good Day at the Track

Greg I got 12 + myself out to the track today and everyone had a good time and all of them ask if it was going to happen again next year because they all want to come back. After we all left we went up the road on to RT 1 and stopped for a lunch and beer the bill came out to $162. 00 so I spent the $160 I won Oo. in Maryland :-laf

Thanks for all your hard work setting this up.

Cliff

I think everyone should give Greg a big thanks for organizing this. He began this project last January, and has worked very hard, and it sure paid off.
