I'm about to start and replace the trans cooler line on my 06 with the temp probe line. My question is there any one good way, to take off the old one and replace it, with out half of the transmission fluid on the floor. Start at the top cooler line, or start at the transmission ? Will a lot of fluid come out when the line is taken off or just a little ? I figured there is quite a few of you who have done this little job, let me know ! :confused:

Disconnect the line at the transmission first. Have a drain pan, and something to plug up the port on the transmission. Allow the line to drain into the pan (make sure the pan is nice and clean to start - you'll dump this back in when you're through), and once it stops, remove the upper fitting from the heat exchanger.

Expect to drain about a quart into the drain pan.

personally i feel trans fluid is inexpensive enough for a quart or two ro be %100 sure of no contamination in the system to replace the fluid and not re-use it...

just me though...

If you are prepared to immediately reinstall your new line you won't lose much fluid. If you are unprepared like I was you will lose a lot more, Oh and make sure the trans fluid is cool before you do the switch. :{

I am still waiting on my replacement line, MASSDIESEL sent it out and UPS screwed up somewhere and sent it back to the sender.

So I should have it by Monday, MASSDIESEL said on Friday they would over night it and being Friday it should be here on Monday.

Good service for something that was not their fault, I did not even ask for shipping to be upgraded, I would have been happy just to get the line sent out again.

UPS delivers a lot to my place so I do not understand how they messed up this order. Normally it is Fed Ex who screws up my shipping.

At any rate Kudos to MASSDIESEL for the great service, now I just have to hope that UPS does not screw up the shipping again.
