On my 01' (Four wheel disc) Ram, i constantly am wiping off brake fluid from the top, right around the cap. The level has not dropped much though. I just cant figure out why it keeps happening. Anybody else have a similar problem?

Cap Leak

My master cylinder also leaks and gets filthy all around the to and sides. I clean it, tighten the cap and still it gets dirty. I wish I could find a solution. Any help out there?

Hi guys,

This is my first post, I just joined the TDR last week, but I've been reading them since I bought my truck back in February of this year. This is a great place for information about our beloved trucks.

Anyway, I have the same problem with the fluid leaking past the cap. I think this is also leading to a brake fluid contamination problem that I seem to be having.

My truck has the AC Delco (Gack!) type master cylinder, and I'm assuming yours does as well. I saw something the other night that I'm going to try. I saw in JCWhitney, back in the section where they have the chrome goodies, that there is a chrome-plated metal cover that fits onto the plastic cover. It's was intended only for dress-up, but I'm wondering if the metal cap would help to stiffen up the plastic cap and help with the sealing.

Any thoughts?
