2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Master cylinder

Can the stock MC on a 2500 be switched to the larger 3500 MC to improve braking?

You would need a smaller master cyl. bore to put more pressure on the system. I suspect the master cyls. are the same. On 99 they are same but calipers on 99 3500 are 86mm, 2500 are 80mm. bg

You can install the 3500 rear wheel cylinders on a 2500, for better rear braking.

If you noticed my truck bio below, you'd see I have rear disc brakes.

A smaller diameter master cylinder bore will make more pressure, but pedal travel will increase (not a bad thing)



A larger diameter piston in the caliper will increase the "squeeze" on the rotor.



Different pad compounds will have a noticable effect on stopping power felt at the pedal.
