I'm pretty sure my truck needs a new master cyl, the pedal sinks a little when stopping. NAPA has rebuilt ones for $15, is there any upgrade or should I just go the NAPA route? While I'm at it i'll replace the rubber lines too.

I used to work for parts place. They generally have two types of parts. The cheapest that they offer you first and then a premium or upgrade. Always ask for the upgraded or heavy duty.

I'm currently replacing my booster, master cylinder drums and rotors and probably braided stainless brake lines (they have good reviews here so far).

I am going to get my drums and rotors cryogenically tempered to toughen them up a bit. But I think you need to this when they are new. I figure I'll have this truck a while and since I'm doing the work myself I might as well use the best parts possible.

Buying a rebuilt MC is like taking your money to Vegas, you might get lucky but the odds are with the house. Track record on rebuilts from anybody is not good. Buy a new one. Get the highest quality hoses you can also.

I agree, just replaced(still in the process going on day 3) the steering gear box on the 92, so far so good that was until i got to the lines, frozen out on the gear box. . I agree with Cerber on this one, i remember my dad replacing 3 on a car when i was younger the first 2 didn't last a week. If you got the monies i would get a new one. Some things rebuilt are fine others well.....

I say NO WAY to a rebuilt master. There are sooo many threads in here about 1st genners getting burned on them. Nothing but problems.

Get a nice new one and be done with it. Brakes are important. .

I have a leaking MC. It sucks fluid from the front chamber and spits it out into the rear chamber. The fluid then overflows and makeing a nice mess.

Can anyone post a helpful hint or two that would help w/R&R of the MC. I have yet to do this on a Dodge Ram.

Did you make sure the rear brakes are adjusted up close? The other thing to watch for is the anti-lock valve. If the MC doesn't seem to fix the problem, bypass the anti-lock valve on the frame by the rear axle and unplug the controller. The controller is behind the glove box. My brake pedal was spongy all the time until I did this, now it stops on a dime and gives . 04 change. :)
