Master Power Turbo Problems

Has anyone out there had any problems with the master power turbo on sale at pdr? I was looking for a new turbo for my '93 and ran across the master power turbo for sale at pdr, I called them up and asked them how good the turbo was and I was told that it should be good for at least 425 H. P. and was basically the same as a pdr HX-40 without a wastegate. I ended up going a different route but my buddy bought one for his '97 3/4 ton. He didn't even make it a week before the shaft broke and sent pieces flying everywhere. He had a brand new 4" downpipe on and it destroyed that and it also sent metal into the intake and the oil. He called PDR and all they can tell him is that he has to much power. His truck is only mildly upgraded with injectors, a fuel plate and 4" exhaust. They won't replace the turbo and will only refund half his money or give him $100. 00 off a different turbo. I am really disappointed with the service from PDR, because not only does he have a brand new junk turbo, but he also wrecked a $150 downpipe, and has to pull his engine to get all the crap back out. I certainly do not recomend this turbo to anyone, but has anyone else had any problems?
