Mastercraft Courser SRS

My dad bought these for his 99 2500... they are about the best snow tire I have ever seen... even better than the cooper LTs I had before.



I watched him drive out the end of their driveway in 2wd... I didn't even make it 1/3 the way... then I dug all four trying to get out of that end (I still have the stock BFG junk). They handle good, have low noise, and seem to wear good.



Just an FYI. I believe they make these in a 235/85r17... I will have these on my steelies for next winter.

the mastercraft coursers are actually made by cooper... I would have to say the best winter tire i have found though is the Cooper Discoverer M&S that carries the glacier rating (Has the little iceberg picture on them) i have them studded all the way around haven't managed to get into anything that could stop them yet...

The SRS are now the snow rated mastercraft tire. They say that right on them.

We have/had both Mastercrafts and Coopers on some of the rigs here and I've had the Coops. Really like both brands made by the same company (Mastercrafts a little less bucks) for punching through the snow.

Are they a tire that likes to ride on top of the snow and does a good job, or a tire that likes to dig to get traction? Do they need a lot of weight to help out in traction? Do they wear well in the dry months? Decent in mud?

A lot of weight... it's a CTD.



Just got them, but seem to be wearing good.



Mud... it's been too cold.

That's why most snow country folks put extra weight in/on the bed for the winter. There are some threads around with good weight adding ideas.



For instance, the aforementioned Yugo in the back, should be just right and act as a spare. :-laf

Cooper makes them. they also make the Dean tires. I bought the cooper Discovery M/S for my 06 back in November after I ordered the truck. Problem is the truck never showed up yet to try the tires on

Damn, that has to suck!



My dad has no extra weight in his truck... like I said, they really impressed me... and our trucks are "similar"... both CTDs, both manuals.



I believe they make these in a 235/85r17 which would be absolutely perfect on the narrow steelie rims the STs come with... and the narrow width would create a better psi on the contact patch (essentially "making" weight over a wide tire).
