If my memory serves me correct, on the 89/90's (not sure if it was still available after that) had a factory manual high idle lever under the dash on the 5 speed trucks.

Can anyone provide more info on these? I want to do install one on mine now that I have a 5 speed in it and I am wanting it to look as factory as possible.

Any info or pictures of the various connection points/handle would be wonderful! :)

Thanks!

Robert

I have seen these before . . they were a little plastic handle you could pull out and turn to lock the cable down to get more rpm. . both ttrucks that i have seen were '89 or 90 model year . i have one of the cables and can take apicture of it. . i plan on using it my self so its not for sal. . but i will post pictures for you over the weekend. Thanks

My 1990 CTD W250 5spd came with a factory hand throttle for high idle.

Still have and use it.

I modified it to so there was no limit on speed setting.

Quite a few people mention the hand throttle.

Apparently Dodge removed it in early 1990, my truck was made in March 1990.

good pictures. . I've been waiting to gte my digital camera back . . my wife has it down in VA. . thanks for posting the pictures...

Thanks,

Deo

Andy,

Wow! Those are great! Thank you!

Call me stupid, but is the pedal being pulled up? Almost looks like it...

EDIT: never mind. I see it. Pulls ABOVE the pivot...

You're welcome on the photos guys. I can take more detail shots of any areas too if you need them. I get strange looks from people when they see that idle lock. Everyone argues that it's added on. Nope.

Nice conversion job on the Excursion Deo!!! Wow! What a cool job. You should have taken more pics. :D Now I see why she took the camera away. :-laf I thought about stuffing a 4BT in an old Scout, but got too many projects now.

The last photo shows the stop that is crimped on to limit engine speed.

I removed it to allow me to idle it up to 1500 or more to maintain engine temp in extreme cold weather.
