Does anyone know if the 04. 5's had higher boost than the 05's? My 04. 5 automatic would easily show 37 psi on my Edge attitude (I was a beta tester), whereas dropping the same box on the 05 6 speed can only yield a maximum of 31 psi. Was the 37 psi on the 04. 5 possibly a result of a bad sender? That amount of boost seems really high for a stock turbo.

All tests were done on the same street, weather conditions, etc. Trucks were equipped identical as well (afe air box, gutted torque tube).

Hasselbach,

I too was a beta tester for the Juice/Attitude. The answer is NO to the bad sender. I frequently would hit as high as 40lbs. I don't think the '05 Intercooler will take much of that so the 31psi is probably a good idea.

Saw one the other day that blew the end off. The customer had a gauge, but when asked said how much boost he was running, he said he never paid any attention to it. Well for lying about it, they threw him out in the street. When they put the new intercooler in and drove it, it had 43 PSI. He was a real jerk and was going to sue everybody. They still booted him! (after they took his money)

If he would have been polite, they were going to cover it with a warning. Last we saw him he was screaming he was going to make Banks pay. Good luck on that one!

I have a 04. 5 with bully dog downloader set to performance (90) hp it will see 49. 5 boost. The outlook monitor will keep track of the max boost so you don't have to watch it all the time. I havn't had any problems once in a while the waste gate will open, but I have about 7000k with the system on and no problems.

My 04. 5 completely stock would hit 34psi.

With AFE Stage II air intake and DR Performance Stage II 85HP fuel/boost box it would hit 39psi.

With the Juice/Attitude, AFE Stage II air intake, Banks exhaust at Level 3 will hit the max 38psi I have set pretty quick. Havent ran with the backoffs turned off yet to see how high it will go, but my guess is it will exceed 40psi.

I have watched the Attitude digital boost compared with my Autometer mechanical boost and they are very close to the exact same. The digital is a little slower to catch up, but pretty close to identical to the mechanical guage.

With the boost limit set to say 34 or 35 does this completely protect your turbo? I have seen threads of guys with the TST turned up destroying their turbos. I guess what I am asking is can you set the boost limit to 35 on the Juice and the low boost fueling setting on 5 and flog it without worry. Also how does the Juice read boost, do you have to install a boost bolt in the manifold or not. Thanks, Jay

I don't completely agree that boost pressure alone will kill the turbo at the levels we are talking about, 38-45 psi. I believe that the drive pressures have a great deal to do with stress on the turbo. If you make 40 psi with 40-45psi of drive pressure I believe you are ok. What I feel happens is that a module like the TST has the ability to drive the turbo so hard it can break it. In otherwords it drives the turbo to 40 psi with 60 psi of drive pressure. Now these are not exact numbers, but there is no doubt that the TST can drive the exhaust side much harder than the compressor side can handle.

I am not a turbo expert, but I have done a fair amount of testing and I am sure someone with more experience can elaborate on this subject.

Has anyone seen an efficiency map for the 03/04 or 04. 5/05 turbo?

This would help to explain alot of our questions.
