The truck stock is pretty much is getting the most out of that turbo, that the charge air is worth a darn. After about 35psi the air is getting super heated and does not do much for power.

The 04. 5's have the hx35? supposedly good up to 35psi
The 05's and up have an hx40? up to 40psi.
Do those hx35-40 numbers correspond to the max safe boost numbers?
If 40psi is not good due to heat/drive pressure, etc. , then why do alot of programmers/boxes allow it and say it's good for "stock" applications. I mean, they don't say you need an upgraded turbo, usually just intake/exhaust mods... etc...

Thanks

With the Downloader loaded and boxes up I can hold the wastegate open for most of the quarter. The stock head gasket and bolts have seen at least 50 hard passes of 50psi or more. So far no issues.

the HE351 is the same turbo with an electronic wastegate actuator for emmissions reasons. both are only efficient to about 35-38 lbs of boost
The reason you can make 50 + psi safely is because your SPS 66 can move more CFM per a given pound of boost (more air flow, less backpressure) due to mainly a bigger better flowing exhaust housing which means less stress at 50 lbs via an SPS66 over a stock or tighter housed turbo. You still have a ton of cylinder pressure though which also kills HG's.
