Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Max Boost with EZ and HY-35?

Just wondering what the max boost I SHOULD be seeing on my setup. I have no boost elbow, due to the hardline on the HY, and I have no turnbuckle or J-Hook. I can hit 28psi on the gauge pretty easily. I just thought that the stock wastegate should limit it to around 20psi so I wasn't expecting to hit that high when I installed the boost gauge.



If there is a problem with my wastegate how do you test it???

You are just blowing past the gate. It is a small hole so even with it open you will still make some boost. You can put a . 22 shell casing in the hard line to disable the gate. A short works best BTW.

Thanks. I don't have any problems yet with EGT's so I don't see a need for any more yet. I can hit 1200 if I try REAL hard, lugging it up a hill. But if I don't let it lug, via throttle position, I can only top out at 1100. I also don't tow a whole lot either. I think actually I'll have to start thinking about transmission before turbo... .

wow, i could never get my boost over 21. 2 on my 2001 auto until i put a Boost fooler and a j-hook on it now i can get it up to 34 when i push it. have you checked to see if you set a over boost code on your truck?, i did before i had the boost fooler.

The EZ box has a boost fooler built in. So I'm guessing if I install a J-Hook, 22 shell, or a turnbuckle I could see a bit more boost. But since I don't need it yet I don't see a need for it, unless someone has any info to the contrary.

Ok I should of figured that , I have a banks big hoss box it dosent have a boost fooler built in, i Should of went for the edge ez instead of the banks

Low egts are always good. More boost will lower them

I have the ez and j hook... max boost for me is 28psi
