I have 8/60 should have maybe gotten more. I’m driving truck more than t thought I would. Sold my Electra glide a few years back didn’t want to get hurt on it old age . So the truck gets driven more.. I like driving it also .

Price of the Gen 2 EcoD engines are now around the $17,000 mark. Gen 3's are about $18,000. The Cummins aren't far behind at $22,000. Depending on where you look.

Include installation $20,000 for a Gen 2 EcoD and $26,000 for a Cummins as very rough totals. Could be more depending on where you live and doing it at a dealer versus an indy.

Big and scary numbers.

In fact, on another forum folks are talking about the "sudden" price increase on all diesel engines across the board. A few weeks ago both Gen2/3 EcoD and Cummins engines were a few thousand cheaper. Not sure what happened. Inflation can't happen that quickly.

Some folks over on the EcoD side who unfortunately have the Gen 2 EcoD are taking a serious whipping out of warranty when they decide to grenade. I feel bad for those folks. Especially those who pay a lot of money on a Gen 2 and then find out they have a 10% failure rate and they randomly decide to window the block and puke their guts out on the roadway.

I used forums to make my decision on my Gen 3 EcoD, with a long warranty of course. Glad I did. Great truck.

Yes, you're driving a bit more than 7,500 miles a year.

I'm trying to drive around 15K a year so that I run out of years and miles at the same time.

7 years, 100k mileage and $0 deductible = perfect.

Now I am my own warranty station. Bummed I didn’t insist on the rear main seal getting replaced as it LOOKED fine when the AISIN was smoked. I think all that heat did some damage as I am only at 113k and seal is leaking.

One thing I don’t understand is buying the $0 deductible. In current pricing, for a 8/125, at $50 over dealership cost it would take 18 separate issues to cover the added cost of a $0 deductible over a $200 deductible. The price difference is $4685 vs $8180.

Good point, I wonder if he made it out on the + side for the deductible.
He sure did on the total MaxCare warranty costs when the almighty Aisin went belly up.

I also went with the 8y/125k figuring that Id be driving more but got a company car last year... so miles sharply dropped off. Figured warranty would run out about the time they hopefully put in a flat floor... Had the $200 deductible on my 04 also.. just about right, stuff less than $200 and I was doing myself, more (like turbo, front seat assy, front axle ujoints and drive shaft.....) I'd lump em together and happily pay the $200. The price was the main driver as John pointed out. If she goes in for something it'll be totally worth it Id assume and the $200 is a drop in the bucket.

Maxcare footed the bill for the Aisin replacement, but it wasn’t really warranty failure… the tech that repaired the leak did the repair wrong and the dealership didn’t want to foot the bill.

I liked what I bought as I did get a good price dealing with the sales manager and my son and I ordering a truck on the same day with him. I never felt gee should i get this done I just made an appointment and it was done.

True story above on the AISIN failure.

What I have found out is the underwriter for the plan generally cancels your old policy and write a new one based on miles current on the vehicle and how much time remains on the factory three year warranty . So you begin all over and can shop for the best deal. Will call my original policy writer on Monday Also what I know is everyone’s driving habits are different how many miles. For me I tend to drive /ride something much more the first year or two then things slow down by about half. That’s been my experience for me so my existing plan should be just fine. When I hit 8 years on my plan I will be 80 years old duh hopofully still driving etc

Ok what I have found out. A very basic complete run around. Talk to 6 people to get to this final answer. At the end of the 8/60 6 months before or 6 k miles before contact mopar 800. 521 9922 and they will sell you a new plan . No idea of prices so buy as much as you can the first time I guess
