Max EGT you do not want to see?

I just had my x-monitor installed and I told them I wanted it pre-turbo and they put my probe in front of the turbo in the verticle

part of the exhaust manifold instead of on top. would there be a difference of max exhaust temps being mounted there instead of being mounted up by the exhaust ports.



What would be the max exhaust temps I do not want to go over.

I believe that pre-turbo max EGT is 1300...

After the truck reachs operating temp the location of your temp sender will not effect the actual temp. The ideal location is on the horizontal area before the 90 degree bend down to the turbo. Once warmed up both locations will show the same egt. Oh you do not want to see over 1300 for more than a short (10 seconds or less) period.
